Step 2: Use Your Voice for Change

Be aggressive, use real information, and be polite. Email, call, show up at meetings. Make noise early and often. Emails work. Phone calls work. Don’t underestimate the power of an email or phone call.

JOIN THE GROWING VOICES ON SOCIAL MEDIA: Follow us on X(Twitter), Instagram, Facebook, BlueSky, Reddit, LinkedIn, and TikTok! Help us spread the word!

DOWLOAD assets from our Social Media Toolkit.

DOWNLOAD these flyers and take action! Bring them to meetings, share them with stakeholders, and distribute them at local health departments, doctors’ offices, and in your community.

TAKE ACTION: Email, call, show up to meetings. We encourage advocates to send emails, make phone calls, and meet with stakeholders independently and ask for change.

You can view and participate in HCA coordinated and time sensitive advocacy alerts by signing up for emails and following us on all channels.

Step 3: Contact stakeholders

CONTACT YOUR ELECTED REPRESENTATIVES: There is nothing more important than asking the government for change. Call, send an email or meet with your elected representatives (specifically ask for their Health Policy staff) and ask them for change today. Ask for a meeting!

CONTACT PUBLIC HEALTH LEADERS: Contact key stakeholders in public health to ask them to prioritize Herpes cure, treatment and prevention. Call. Email. Ask for a live meeting!

A sample email is here.

An updated list of stakeholders contact information is here.

Step 4: Get Involved with HCA!

JOIN THE PATIENT ADVOCATE TASK FORCE: Advocates who have completed all tasks on New Advocates Starters Guide are welcome to apply for the Patient Advocate Task Force.

Monthly meeting attendance required. Please be able to contribute 5+ hours a month to volunteer for the organization. The task force volunteers may help organize meetings, gather information, or more.

PLEASE NOTE ALL TASK FORCE applicants will be interviewed.
