The 2026 pipeline at a glance
Pipeline 5.0 maps the programs working toward a cure for herpes simplex virus, from preclinical research to FDA review, and tracks what has changed since last year’s edition.
Key updates since Pipeline 4.0
- Antivirals are advancing. Every antiviral drug in clinical development in Pipeline 4.0 has moved forward.
- Two vaccines were discontinued. Development stopped on two vaccine candidates that were in clinical development in Pipeline 4.0.
- A preclinical bottleneck. Little progress in the preclinical programs from Pipeline 4.0, and very few new approaches added or advanced.
