Living with Viral Meningitis

Living with Viral Meningitis
The impact of latent herpesvirus on chronic disease is often misunderstood and underappreciated. Viral meningitis is a serious potential outcome of HSV-2 infection that requires medical treatment and can be fatal if not treated.
Studies have shown during initial outbreaks of genital herpes, 28% of women and 17% of men develop symptoms of meningitis. About a fifth of HSV+ individuals who develop meningitis will have recurrences. Although most people who have meningitis make a good recovery, some can be left with debilitating long term after effects including hearing loss, sight loss and even acquired brain injury (ABI).
Please join Herpes Cure Advocacy to hear from HSV+ patients living with Mollaret’s Syndrome, a rare form of recurrent viral meningitis.
- Hear from individuals living with Mollarets about their diagnosis and story
- Learn more about viral meningitis, causes, symptoms, and treatment options
- After effects and recovery
