Herpes Cure Advocacy Seeks Volunteer Members for Board of Directors
Herpes Cure Advocacy (HCA) is issuing a call for individuals to serve on its Board of Directors. We are seeking individuals with a background in communications, wealth management, philanthropy, grant makers, policy, etc. As an organization with a growing slate of health policy and research projects, we are looking for applicants who understand the broad impact of herpes simplex infection and the need for action on multiple fronts to reduce or eliminate the burdens of these infections. Board members must have a commitment to our mission, strong leadership skills, and sufficient bandwidth to participate actively.

About Herpes Cure Advocacy
Herpes Cure Advocacy (HCA), is a 501 (c) (3) non-profit, patient advocacy organization with a mission to cure, treat and prevent herpes simplex virus (HSV) types 1 + 2.
Incorporated in 2022, Herpes Cure Advocacy was born out of collaborative efforts with patient advocates, professionals, and researchers worldwide. By channeling grassroots efforts in multiple patient advocate communities globally, HCA harnesses the power of patients themselves to raise awareness and create change. Our current initiatives include:
- Fundraising to support organizational operations and programs
- Education for patients and professionals
- Stimulating the HSV drug development and research pipeline
- Pursuing a broad agenda for federally funded action on HSV-related programs
Position description
HCA relies on a Board of Directors to guide the priorities of the organization and volunteer time to help with a variety of projects. The Board currently has 7 members but seeks to add members in 2026.
- Board members are expected to join and/or lead a committee and actively create opportunities to drive the mission of the organization.
- Board members may be expected to review and/ or contribute educational content, communications and messages
- Board members are expected to leverage their personal and professional networks to elevate the visibility of the organization, source, create and advance opportunities that drive the mission
Fundraising
- The organization has a newly approved fundraising plan to be implemented
- HCA has a culture of philanthropy and Board members are expected to contribute as well as actively support fundraising for the organization.
- The minimum personal annual contribution is $1,000 per year. $5,000 is recommended.
Commitment
- Directors are elected for renewable terms of 3 years.
- Time commitment expected is between 5-10 hours per month
- Candidates for Board membership will be provided copies of the HCA by-laws and details re: Board member roles and responsibilities.
